The Epson SureColor T3170M is the multifunction version of the T3170 — same 24-inch desktop CAD printer with the PrecisionCore TFP head and UltraChrome XD2 pigment ink, but with an integrated scanner so you can scan, copy, and archive D-size drawings without leaving your desk. A1 prints come out in about 34 seconds. The thing buyers regret is the size of jobs it can handle: it's still a desktop unit, so the scanner is for one-at-a-time D-size sheets, not a stack. If you need to digitize an archive of legacy paper drawings, this will do it but it'll take time. If you need volume scanning plus printing, look at a T5730DM or T7730DM. For a one-architect or two-person studio that occasionally needs to scan a marked-up site drawing back into the model, this is the right shape of tool. Scanning to PDF, network folder, or USB is built in, so you can hand a scan to a contractor in a meeting without involving a separate desktop scanner.
