Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Epson SureColor SC-P5330 is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You're a photographer or fine-art studio printing 17-inch work daily.
  • You want the Violet channel for true gamut coverage in blues and purples.
  • You print on multiple papers and want PK and MK loaded simultaneously.
  • You'll use roll media for panoramic or banner-format prints.
  • You manage color with ICC profiles and a calibrated monitor.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • It's fine if you mix sheet and roll work week to week.
  • It's fine if you print mostly 13x19 with occasional 17-inch wide.
  • It's fine if you need PostScript RIP integration.
  • It's fine if you're upgrading from a P800 or older 8-color machine.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • Skip this if you only print occasionally — the P900 prints the same quality for less.
  • Skip this if you need wider than 17 inches — go P6530E, P9530, or P20070.
  • Skip this if you don't manage color — you'll waste expensive paper.
  • Skip this if you need signage durability — go S or R-series.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Epson SureColor SC-P5330 is a 17-inch professional photo and proof printer that uses the UltraChrome PRO10 pigment ink set with Violet — same ink chemistry as the desktop P900 and the wide-format P9530, just at 17 inches. The Micro Piezo printhead runs up to 5,760 x 1,440 dpi, with dedicated Photo Black and Matte Black channels so you don't lose ink to switching cycles. The thing buyers regret is buying it instead of the P900 to get extra speed they don't actually need — for most photographers, the P900 prints the same quality at slightly slower speed for less money. Where the P5330 earns its keep is roll support, larger ink carts, and better duty cycle for studios that print every day. If you sell prints, this is a more sustainable platform. For occasional fine-art output, the P900 is the right call. The optional roll holder adds panoramic print capability, and the larger carts mean fewer interruptions during long runs — small things that add up when print is your business, not your hobby.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

What customers actually say

The 5-star consensus: "it just works"

Small sample size, high signal. The 3 verified reviewers picked this model to replace older inkjets or aging Epson machines. Common threads in the feedback:

  • "Been using this for my design studio for about 8 months now and it handles our photo prints really well. The color accuracy is solid and the 13-inch width is perfect for our workflow without taking up too much desk space."
  • "Good printer overall for my home photography business, but the software setup took longer than I expected and the ink cartridges are pricey. Quality output is worth it though if you're doing serious print work."
  • "This thing prints gorgeous fine art papers and canvas. I use it for small batch orders and the speed is decent for what you're getting in terms of quality. Reliability has been solid so far."
